"As a cancer specialist, I believe my most essential skills are compassion and understanding. By truly caring, and by making every effort to completely understand what patients are going through, I can't help but pursue excellence. My drive to provide the best possible care is strong—and it comes from the heart. Because it's what I would want if I had cancer. With more than 25 years of experience as a radiation oncologist, I've had a lot of close professional involvement with cancer and how it affects individuals, their families and their lives. But I also have personal experience, having helped my father through his bout with cancer. I've seen what's wrong with cancer care today. Delays. Too little time spent with the patient. Problems with information being shared between different physicians. Not enough understanding or consideration of the emotional aspects. My mission is to change all that, and I'm proud to have built an institution where putting the patient first has made that difference. I'm also proud of my training and experience and our state-of- the-art capabilities. But for me, these are simply the best tools for offering truly patient-first care. And for providing real hope for people with cancer and the people who love them."
